Corinthians Six Nineteen

The body.

The temple.

The emerging market of

the mind.

The quickest buck.

An Amazon of vulnerability,

A jungle of hurts, ripe for harvest.

The hunters gathering and grifting our grief.

“Grandma’s for Sale!” in the Dementia Department.

“Child Care Half Off!” with your Flex Spending Account.

“Free Shipping!”

And the Dow is down.

This is big business.

An efficient economy.

Jobs galore.

Farming your family.

Psychological stores.

An endless supply.

We sell to buy.

The cost of distance

Is a dear price to pay.

Discounted disappointment.

Cheap comforts.

We can feel it in our bones.

Our gut checks “No!”

Our hearts break,

And they make bank.

They crush the competition:

Love is now nosy.

And care imposes.

A fix of false freedom

Is the real commodity.

We mainline the moneychangers

back into the temple.

Withdrawal.

Worth it all.
